Tumble Dryer part help
I have a Whirlpool condenser dryer - pretty sure it's this one (if not it's very similar). Anyway my small problem is that the knob which you turn to set the timing seems to be possessed. Actually, that's an exaggeration - at some point during the cycle the knob catapults off the machine and can be later found rolling…

Immersion heater only heating up couple minutes worth of how water?
My immersion heater over the last few days seems to only be able to heat up a couple of minutes worth of hot shower water even if i'm leaving it on for around an hour (which previousy would have given me tons more hot water). The hot water produced by the central heating system is fine though, although i'm not sure if it…

They told me before Xmas i could get it from Sainsburys or Tesco for £160. Today i checked and…

This morning I came in the kitchen and there is water everywhere, I have closed the taps and there is still leak, it seems there is a pool of water underneath. I have tried to…

Can a washer-dryer go straight in where a washing machine used to be?
Merry Christmas! I spent my first night in my new flat yesterday, after completing four days ago. It was lovely to wake up in my new home on Christmas day...but the next few days will be the time to stock up on bits and pieces and appliances. In the kitchen is a nice big gap where the seller's washing machine once stood.…

Happy Christmas everyone! My Vaillant Ecotec boiler is five years old and serviced every year. Electric Shower Broke Xmas Eve
Hi MSE, I don't know where to start, basically I have just went to have a shower after wrapping all the presents and hoovering the house on the eve of christmas and it's just tripped. It is pumping out cold water at full pressure. We have a pull cord next to the shower to turn it on. This light comes on, but as soon as we…

Goldscrew V TurboGold
As the title suggests I'm trying to find out the difference between two screws... The guy at screwfix told me that turbogold were more rust resistant... however, the spec sheets don't seem to mention this... I'll be using the screws for interior and exterior work, so something that is good to sit outside and not rust would…

Kettle squirting water out of funnel when finished boiling!
Even if there is very little water in the kettle, it starts to bubble up at boiling point and squirts out a lot of the hot water from the funnel. I've had this kettle less than a year, even though it's tesco value, it shouldn't be dying already?! Anyone know why it could be doing this?

Replace electric shower?
In my new house I have an electric shower, which I found slightly surprising as there is a gas heated hot water cylinder via a Baxi Bermuda SL3 back boiler. It looks fairly recently installed and also as though the shower used to be plumbed into the hot water system. The previous owner was elderly, so perhaps an electric…

Quick question about curtain widths/window width
We have a front door with a little window next to it and I have been looking for a nice door curtain to go across it to keep the hall warmer. However, the only 'door curtains' we could find seemed big old stiff plain boring ones. Custom made was coming out silly money of about 200 quid and we cant make them. So I thought…

can boundary lines be "offset" so that garage overhangs boundary line?
My neighbour is convinced that all our boundary lines are sort of staggered so that the actual boundary line is NOT along the side of our garage, but more running inside our actual garage. He states that the boundary line can be determined by the cement line on the ground whereas I am of the opinion that the boundary line…
