Hi everyone
ZANUSSI ZCG662GXC FSD Gas Cooker - Stainless Steel
I bought this cooker 3 years ago from a local shop, it was brand new but it was one of those returned items with no box. I have been using it fine but I have hardly used the bigger oven(it comes with double oven).
About a month ago while my gas was being checked, the gas man checked the cooker and said that it was dangerous because when the lad comes down it does not cut the gas supply, the Hobbs are still on. He unplugged the gas that connects the cooker. He said I should get it fixed.
I've called the guy I've bought it from, he said that he does not fix gas cookers(only electronics) and suggested that I should buy a new one because the cost of fixing a gas cooker is too much. He gave me the number of another guy who pretty much said the same thing.
I don't know what to do now, I have fairly new cooker which cost me a lot of money sitting in my kitchen. I don't want to throw it away.
I need some advise on whether to try finding someone to fix it or just buy a new cooker.
Thanks

Sounds like you have a 3 year old gas cooker that doesn't have a FSD (Flame Safety Device). The gas will only ever cut off on one with a FSD fitted, so it doesn't mean yours is "faulty"
Unless you live in a flat (or a multi-dwelling building) a FSD is not required. It's quite possible the person who checked it misunderstands the regulations.
The only way to check for certain is to see what it says in the manual...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
