Kettle squirting water out of funnel when finished boiling!

Options
Even if there is very little water in the kettle, it starts to bubble up at boiling point and squirts out a lot of the hot water from the funnel. I've had this kettle less than a year, even though it's tesco value, it shouldn't be dying already?!

Anyone know why it could be doing this?

My kettle has recently started doing this too - what a co-incidence.

My kettle is over 10 years old, though, so I've had me money's worth.

The supermarket 'value' kettles don't really tend to last more than a year or so.

It could be that the water is working it's way up the water level gauge and there may be a gap at the top?

All electrical things sold in the UK have a one year warranty, so I would take it back to the store. Even if you don't have the receipt, you may be able to prove how long it has been with your club card or if you paid with a debit/credit card. Anyway, I would always try and see what happens. Sometimes even without proof, staff can be great and just accept you've had it less than a year.

However, I haven't found the very cheap kettles good value for money, they rarely last more than a year. Having to replace something often, even if it's just £10 a time adds up over a few years to a lot of money.

Unfortunately I wasn't the one who bought it as it was a housewarming gift :(

I'll just have to have a look in the sales after christmas for a new one.
