Tetrad covers
Afternoon all, Do any of you good people know where we might be able to get replacement covers for our Tetrad 'Aspen' (made for John Lewis) beige sofas? We only need them for the seat cushions as everything else (back cushions and sofa covers) are still in great shape. We've been in touch with JL and Tetrad - but they'll…

I'm Such a Hoarder, But When to Let Go?
Having effectively sold everything I had but didn't want that was saleable, and ruthlessly dumped what wasn't saleable, I figure it's finally time I decluttered my paperwork. In the name of efficiency I think I have kept every darn bill and statement I have ever received. But now I am not quite as young as I once was,…

Location for Warmu-up Thermostat For Underfloor Heating
I am just wanting clarification on where the warm up XSTAT thermostat (digital) for our Kitchen underfloor heating can be located. The tiler was saying we can have it on the corridor just outside the Kitchen. However the electrician who is to fit is saying it should be in the Kitchen. Any ideas please.

Obviously not my year for white goods, washing machine pump went last month, and now the above, grr... The machine powers up, and the panel lights all illuminate OK. Best way to protect floors?
Hullo What's the best way to protect a wooden floor from being marked/scratched by oversize leather chairs? They have large A4 size wooden feet and are fairly heavy. Also wondering the same for a heavy leather bed going into a carpeted room. The property is rented, so want to ensure no damage is caused. Thanks :j

Banging Noise from Neighbours Apartment
Hi There, I have a noise problem which I think is water hammer coming from the flat upstairs. Every morning, I am woken up by a very loud banging noise on the ceiling. It sounds like a woodpecker with a hammer in its mouth. I can also hear the shower running upstairs and the banging noise stops when the running water sound…

Hi I have a house that I am going to extend. Let's say the house is worth £100,000 and at the moment I have buildings insurance to cover this current value. Once the extension has been completed, the house will be worth £150,000. Should I let my insurer know now that the house is worth £150,000 or do I wait until after the…

PVA before filling cracks?
(I posted this query in another thread but it was missed so I thought I'd post it as a standalone query, rather than continue to hijack someone else's thread.) I have some cracks in walls which will need to be polyfilla'd / filled before I redecorate. A builder recommended that I painted the cracks with PVA before applying…

Hello. After 6 hours on the phone and two mornings of waiting in for engineers over the past week my internet is finally working. (At the moment) Two things that were said during conversations though have puzzled me. Firstly. I told one girl that I was becoming frustrated because it hadn't worked for a week and I really…

Adjustment to plans
We recently had building plans passed for a single storey extension but we have since realised that it needs to be bigger than we previously thought. My question is do we have to pay for all the plans to be re drawn or is there a quicker/ cheaper way to do this.

Cost to do electrics
I am looking at buying a 3 bed mid terrace house which hasn't been updated in forever (basically it is probate and the owner had lived in the place for many many years!!!). What is a rough cost to redo the electrics, and I take it they would check first that it even needs doing? Or is that what 'redoing the electrics' is -…
