French doors needed

We are looking to install french doors 1800 wide by 2200 tall
Would ideally like oak but all pre fabricated ones we can find are not as high as this.
Double glazing company can fabricate UPVC ones wiith window light at top but not too keen on this idea
does anyone know of supplier...or company that can make to order (North East)?
Dont really want to have to brick up opening to make shorter, as we are using existing window opening with stone lintel above
thanks

  • it sounds like your frame size is tall so you will need a fanlight above doors because of the locking mechanism should be no taller than 2200mm

The frame size needs to be exactly 2200 high.
A local builder has told me that someone can manufacture soft wood timber doors in any size, think i would have preferred oak or hardwood.

You can make doors as high as you want but company's only guarantee upto 2150 50mm extra wont make any difference i have a set in my own house which are 2250 and i had no problems with them and they have been in about 5 years. aslong as there reinforced they will be fine profile companys (the frame suppliers) give specifications to which you should manufacturer things to and the doors is one of them make sure your doors have shootbolts on both doors and you will fine.
