Cost to do electrics

I am looking at buying a 3 bed mid terrace house which hasn't been updated in forever (basically it is probate and the owner had lived in the place for many many years!!!). What is a rough cost to redo the electrics, and I take it they would check first that it even needs doing? Or is that what 'redoing the electrics' is - checking it is ok. Anything I need to think of being an old house? I am already trying to find out how to convert the coal heating to electrics!

To clarify it is the hot water which is heated by coal. Obviously the house itself is electric but I need a boiler.0

It all depends on what kinda stuff you want installing, for a bog standard rewire sockets and lighting, nowt special between £3000 - £4000 in my reconing.
Obviously the more tech you want the more its gonna cost.
Best before hand to get a part p registered elecy in to do a periodic inspection, this will flag up any issues with the installation that need addressing. Then if needed get several quotes. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
a terraced house rewire is approx 2k/2.5k around here.
if theres no CH i would allow 2k/3k for a CH system with a new boiler.
not much point in spending say 500 quid on an electric cyl/boiler for the hot water only.Get some gorm.0 -
If you want a bit of useless information. The first house that I rewired (back in the 1960's) cost about £75, and that included the the materials.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
