How often should I paint gloss woodwork?
Hi - been in my house just over 4 years, from new. Gloss paint on doors and skirting looks good - and I plan to paint the halls/stairs/landing as it's quite grubby now with little finger marks. Want to avoid doing the gloss if I can - there's so much of it - and can't really afford to do that. As it looks ok - any tips on…

Leaking Bath
Just discovered from downstairs room that we have a leak from the bath in the above room, as there is a yellow patch on the ceiling. fire alarms and building regs for lofts
Hi, I wonder if I could ask some advice regarding fire alarms, as I've had a good look around the net and been unable to come up with a definative answer. I'm looking to see where I can save on a loft conversion. As far as I can gather you need a battery backed up mains powered system, with a sensor on each floor. I see…

I would like to know if anyone has any experience of installing 'smart glass' in their home. This is glass that can be transparent or opaque at the flick of a switch. How can I find a good & reliable cooker repair person?
My oven has just half-cooked my dinner in the normal time. This happened a few months ago and turned out to be a blown heating element. Thermostatic shower problem...
Had a Triton Excellente fitted in August, it worked correctly for about a week. We have a pump fitted to boost the pressure. After about 3 mins the pressure starts to fluctate and then goes to virtually nothing. The pump makes a terrible whining noise as it's struggling to cope. The shower has 2 controls - the shower is…
