How often should I paint gloss woodwork?

Hi - been in my house just over 4 years, from new. Gloss paint on doors and skirting looks good - and I plan to paint the halls/stairs/landing as it's quite grubby now with little finger marks. Want to avoid doing the gloss if I can - there's so much of it - and can't really afford to do that. As it looks ok - any tips on getting it cleaned up so that it doesn't look "old" when I get the walls done. Cheers.

To be honest I just wipe the gloss at work down with a Dettol multisurface wipe, they even seem to get oil off.£2 Savers Club 2011 (putting towards a deposit

i would try and get some extra money together to do the work cause even when you wipe them over when you have painted the room they wont look as fresh as the rest of the room when we painted ours it was only then we realised how dull the paint before seemed to be:)0

If you can do it yourself rather than having to shell out for labour costs it would be worth saving up the extra money needed to do the glosswork aswell, no point doing half a job really, you'll notice it once the rest of the paintwork is shiny and new looking, imho.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
