matt finish
Can someone offer me some advice please. I am planning to paint all my wooden upstairs floors for a traditional look. So far I have undercoated and top coated an area of about three square metres with Macpherson's floor paint in a very dark blue. It says semi gloss on the tin, however it is far too glossy for my liking and…

Engineered Wooden Floor in Bathroom
I've been looking at engineered wooden flooring for my bathroom. My builder says it is fine, the flooring company blurb says it isn't. My builder says solid wooden floors aren't good for a bathroom but engineered wood works well and that the flooring company are just 'covering their butt'. Help - who is correct?

Patio door frame
Quick question - we have new pvc patio doors and have had a few problems with them that have now been rectified. However, if we push on the lower edge of the doors/frame there's some 'give' (movement). Is this normal??? Would it present any problems in the long term?

Anyway, I went onto the B&Q website and saw that ALL paving…

Improving an ugly driveway.
I'm a very visual person and during the recent spate of good weather I have noticed how ugly my driveway is. It's basically an ugly grey tarmaced driveway with some blackish streaks in it. Contrast this to my rather pleasant red-brick house and the fact that all of my neighbours have some form of front garden with trees…

Asbestos clearance
Hiya I'm not a regular on the forums but did find previous threads on asbestos removal very interesting. We'd been looking into taking our large asbestos garage down, either ourselves or professionally. We were just about happy enough to do it ourselves until we got a couple of quotes for specialist asbestos skips and got…

Window film okay for conservatory doors?
I'm currently considering getting some sticky back window film to put on the french doors in my conservatory (for privacy and shade protection). Obviously it gets VERY warm in there and wondered if this would a) peel off with the heat b) cause the glass to crack (read it somewhere?) c) be difficult to remove over time…
