Hiya
I'm not a regular on the forums but did find previous threads on asbestos removal very interesting. We'd been looking into taking our large asbestos garage down, either ourselves or professionally.
We were just about happy enough to do it ourselves until we got a couple of quotes for specialist asbestos skips and got nothing less than £700!!!
Looked further online for some other options and on a whim decided to get a couple of quotes to see how much more than the £700 we'd be looking at to get it removed for us - especially as I'd seen rough guide prices on here for £1200-£1500, and ours was a large 20x8ft garage.
Anyway we approached Top Asbestos Removal and got a quote of £937 inc (and two more of well over a grand each). Reseached the company as best we could, decided to use them and they were fantastic. Took down the whole lot within 2.5 hrs this morning, removed it all in their adapted van and were so professional and good at what they did, I really couldn't fault them with how they did it (and we knew what should be done as a friend is an waste management expert who used to deal with organising asbestos removal from business sites and had told us).
Apparently they keep prices low to help keep the guys in work between their bigger contracts. I was very impressed, they did the job properly and we saved a good amount of money over the rest of the quotes we'd received. (i'm not linked to the company in any way - I found them in a google search and then researched them further to check they had the right accreditations).
Hope someone else finds this info of use.

It is perfectly legal to dispose of asbestos waste at your local council tip, check with them first but the normal constraints are that you triple bag the waste and seal it then leave it in their hazardous material store, and they dont charge !
So you could have saved yourself a few quid there.....doh !You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
Many councils will take asbestos products if you bag or wrap them and leave them out for collection. This should be the first call before paying for expensive removal
IIRC, Coventry don't offer this, but do accept asbestos at the tip. In which case a 1/2 day van hire is cheaper than £9370 -
Thanks OP for posting this. I know this is a money saving website, but just occasionally peace of mind comes into it. Here the OP employed, what sounds like, a professional company, to do a quick job.
They now have a clear area outside. All the mess removed in a day, and are obviously very pleased with the job. Others may wish to do it themselves and have all the associated hassles. Tis your choice!!Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0
