Air brick vent for tumble dryer.
Hope someone can help or advise me i have just had a new tumble dryer it has a ventilation hose. I have put the hose directly upto the airbrick thinking that the hot air would be blown directly out of the airbrick. Do you think this would be ok. I have used it a few times now and it seems ok.

Get rid of used fridge/freezer
Hi, I am planning on ordering a new fridge freezer next week and am wondering what to do with the old one. I think that when a new f/f is delivered you are advised not to plug it in for 24 hours, which means that getting the old one removed at the same time will not be practical unless I junk all the fridge and freezer…

Leaky roof
Hi We have a utility room that is the old cold shed from the house. It is a single brick room with a flat roof. I am not quite sure what it is made of. Inside it is wood bored and outside it seems to have a silver coating which the birds like to peck at. i am guessing that it has something else in between. It doesn't seem…

Eaves/loft ventilation vents question
I need to increase the ventilation in my loft space. Unfortunately, my soffits are made of asbestos so I'm a bit unsure about drilling holes in them. I have read the HSE guide to doing this but if there is some other way around this I'd prefer to go that route. Would it be feasible to drill a 70mm hole in the wooden fascia…

Cheap taps. showers etc on Internet
I was amazed to see that (brand new) trendy and antique style taps and showers on ebay and online plumbing merchants cost much less than those in brick-and-mortar shops. For example I am looking at a shower which includes both a rain head and a handheld for £150 instead of £300-£400. However, my builder is of the opinion…

Living room radiator
Hello, Ok, this is the question, and I imagine a lot of people have a similar thing in their living room? The radiator (traditional size, along the wall under the window) has a big leather sofa directly in front of it. So, I am thinking that his blocks off most of the heat and wastes a lot of if, with it drifting up to the…

Fitted Wardrobes - High Street, Specialist or IKEA?
Thinking about getting new wardrobes. What is the best option, as this is my first house? I have been looking at high street options like Hammonds, Sharps etc (all the DIY stuff is horrible). Are there better alternatives that anyone knows (like Howdens for Kitchens). I've seen a lot of comments about IKEA PAX on MSE, but…

Burglar Alarm Wake Up Call
Merry Christmas! Ours didn't get off to a good start as our burglar alarm went off at 7:05 this morning despite the fact it wasn't set. The external bell was ringing but there were no entry/exit warning lights lit up on the alarm panel. I set and reset the alarm but couldn't stop it so I phoned our insurance co to see if…

Building over a drain/sewer inspection chamber
We are looking to purchase a house in Merton on a long straight road consisting of blocks of terraced housing built around 1933. We anticipate that we would like to add a single level extension onto the rear of the property in the next ten years, however there is a single inspection cover for what seems to a combined foul…

Belling double built-under oven XOU594
Has anyone come across this electric fan oven? I have seen one at a real bargain knock-down price, but though it was in currys they couldn't tell me very much in the shop other than it has been out the back for ages and they just want a quick sale. It also has no knobs on it, so I will have to find replacement ones, but…
