Eaves/loft ventilation vents question

I need to increase the ventilation in my loft space. Unfortunately, my soffits are made of asbestos so I'm a bit unsure about drilling holes in them. I have read the HSE guide to doing this but if there is some other way around this I'd prefer to go that route.

Would it be feasible to drill a 70mm hole in the wooden fascia board and install the soffit vents that way instead? Or would this make them more prone to rotting? I have read about over fascia vents but I can't quite get my head around how they are installed. I take it they require removing a row of roof tiles around the building? I want to keep things as simple as possible

I'm concerned about condensation on the lower parts of the roof (near the eaves) that seem to be worst affected.

Is your insulation stuffed right down into the ventilation space which should be free. There should be a minimum 2" gap. If it is putting in soffit ventilation is a waste of time the problem will still be there.

    Cheers

The insulation is not overlapping the eaves. The problem is there is no ventilation at all at the eaves. The whole condensation problem reared it's head after adding an extra 170mm but was fine until the cold spell hit.

Hi Allam hope you don't mind me asking but how much are the roof tile vents. I have just had my bathroom done and need a extractor fan fitted but the electrician says it needs to be connected to a roof tile vent. Think i may only need one. Thanks
