Is it worth paying for a Hansgrohe or equivalent tap for my bathroom sink? Could I just get one from Wickes or Homebase and expect the same from it do you think?

Can't light boiler pilot
Hello. I have an ancient swimming pool boiler (no, I'm not rich, just happened to buy a house with a pool!). Every summer, I struggle to get the pilot to light (using a match to the mouth of an ignition tube, there's no spark generator). Usually, there's a bit of dirt or rust blocking the gas supply to the pilot and a…

Yet more painting ceilings
Hi Guys You gave such good advice last time that I was wondering if you could give some more advice. I have a hall and bathroom ceiling which have both been replastered. Both are drying out nicely but I'm assuming that I would have to paint the bathroom ceiling in a different paint to the hall? Also the plasterer mentioned…

Freezer
Hi, Can anyone tell me what might be wrong with my three drawer integrated freezer. On Thursday night I noticed the top rim inside, which is the part door slams onto was very hot, almost iron hot. I thought it best to switch off, defrost, could not sleep with that on my mind. Next day I cleaned it all out and switched it…

Sorry for posting a boring problem but I have a hand held shower attached to the tap above my roll top bath. The water gushes out of the tap fine but switch it to shower mode and there's just the tiniest of trickles. Does anyone have any ideas how to rectify this incredibly annoying problem? Thank you x

Energy saving bulbs in globe fittings
Is there any reason why you cannot put a (suitably sized) energy saving bulb in one of those spherical glass globe light fittings, like you use in bathrooms? They don't get as hot as the old incandescent ones.

Opinions on LG American Style Fridge Freezers
Hi all, I'm moving house soon and will finally have enough room in the kitchen for a side by side fridge freezer. I'd love to get one with a plumbed in water/ice dispenser but the water supply is on the opposite wall to where the fridge will be so it's not really an option. I've seen that LG do some American style fridge…

Over bath shower screen
I wondered if anyone knows if there is any alternative to the glass shower screen or shower curtain for an in-bath shower? I only have a small bathroom and think a large glass screen will overwhelm the room. Many thanks in advance

house in the area have claimed a piece of land next to their home
On a nearby street there is a family who have fenced off a piece of land at the gable end of their house, and claimed it as their own. Are they within their rights to do this? I've made an enquiry with the local council but they think I'm not putting in a 'complaint' when all I'm wanting to know is if they have been…

Leaky roof!
Can anyone help me with some advice please? We've got a leaky roof caused by the felt under the roof tiles not being overlapped properly (the house was built in 1976). Lining the bottom of a gas oven question.
Is it true that lining the bottom of a gas oven reduces the flow (of gas and air I'm assuming:confused: ) and makes the oven less efficient? I've always used either tin foil or a silicone liner to catch the drips & splashes and have never had any problem. But I have a new cooker and it certainly is not as efficient (does…
