Opinions on LG American Style Fridge Freezers

Hi all,
I'm moving house soon and will finally have enough room in the kitchen for a side by side fridge freezer. I'd love to get one with a plumbed in water/ice dispenser but the water supply is on the opposite wall to where the fridge will be so it's not really an option.
I've seen that LG do some American style fridge freezers that have water and ice dispensers that do not need to be plumbed in. Does anyone have any experience of these? Are LG appliances any good in general?
All responses greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Hi Gimlet,
I don't like LG or any of the Korean/Far East brands, too much bling and not enough reliability. They also harp on about stuff that you don't need, but it sounds good as a sales pitch.
If you want a proper American fridge, GE.
After that you're up into £2K plus for a good one.

We have had an LG for a year and it is very good. Ours is plumbed into the water mains so we do not loose too much from the freezer. Cost about £700.
When planning make sure you leave enough space for the doors to fully open. We had to make some last minute changes.0 -
Just to say that if you are worried as the water supply is far away-I have one with a water dispenser, the pipe travels a good 5m, behind the kitchen units and through a wall(or through a hole in a wall I should say
), its very thin and flexible so can go a long way-you just have to buy extra piping, but thats easy to come by on ebay etc. probably not so good if there is a doorway in the way, but am sure could be hidden by/attached to skirting etc

I can't rate LG highly enough, I was looking for an American side by side with ice and water for my parents over 7 years ago, and opted for the LG. I managed to get it online at the time for about £900 (On the high street they were £1600), they have not had a moments trouble with it.
I Bought a normal LG for myself 3 years ago and again have had no problems, a mate bought a hotpoint 2 years ago and has had an engineer out 3 times so far this year under its extended warranty.0 -
Many thanks for all your helpful replies.
There are doorways on both walls between the water supply and where the fridge will be so plumbing will be a nightmare I presume.
Kwatt as much as I'd love a proper American one, the house move means the budget doesn't stretch that far0 -
Plumbing them is easier than you think, they come with a very long length of 5mm white plastic pipe, which you could clip around the architrave if you liked.0

Thanks CKnocker, I'll have a look into that. :beer:0
