Any value for my old hot water tank?
Hi, I am sure someone will know the answer to this! My old hot water tank was taken out today and has gone! Does anyone know if it has a scrap value? It is a 4 foot indirect copper hot water cylinder (according to my OH) I am guessing that it does as we didn't ask for them to take it out and they are not the best at…

Does my boiler really have to move?
I'm having an extension built and a plumber I'm considering using is telling me my boiler has to move as he needs to re-route the flue through the flat roof and at present doing this will mean that the flue will go through the roan (which I assume means gutter)...he's proposing to move the boiler to an adjacent wall in the…

Anyone heard of www.slideandfold.co.uk
I'm having bi-folding UPVC doors at the back of my house instead of my sliding patio doors. This company is way cheaper than anyone else for the UPVC doors - literally £400 cheaper. The spec looks ok, I've rung them up and asked lots of questions and the company seems legit. Anyone had any knowledge of them - can anyone…

Why is building an extension so expensive?
Hi all. A quick question, and probably a frequently-asked one. My house was bought for 90,000 pounds 6 years ago, but the cost for a single-storey extension that we want to build is almost half of that cost (42,000 pounds - the best of 3 quotes). I realise that the housing market has increased hugely in the past few years…

Ceramic Tiles v Laminate floor - conservatory - discuss please!
Hi; what is the best flooring for a conservatory? It's going to be fairly big (3.2 m x 4.8 m) and I want to choose the best kind of floor, durable, easy to clean etc. I prefer the look of ceramic tiles but is this going to be hard on my little ones if they fall on it? I would put down a biggish rug regardless of what I go…
