Problem with plastering? Advice please....

Options
Hello

I am just decorating my spare room which is on the side of the house where a garage extention was built about 20 years ago.

On the wall which is on the side of the house there is a long very fine crack going from almost floor to ceiling. I have dug this out and seen that there is no plaster board of this wall - just plaster on top of breeze blocks. I was wondering is this the reason why the crack is there?

I was considering the following two options:

1) Filling the crack with caulk then plastering over the top.

2) Plasterboarding that wall and then getting someone in to skim it over.

Or should I be more overally concerned about the crack? As I say it is very fine but does go all the way up. There are several other small fine cracks but most of these are horizontal and are very small.

Help please confused0083.gif

if its a fine crack, i shouldnt worry too much just fill it in and repaint.
prob just a settlement crack. any structure will move over time, (and seasons) even if its just mm,s. and all building materials have different expension rates, hence the cracks in walls.

serious cracks need investigating futher. cracks in the main structure is the one to worry about. ie the actual bricks.
    Get some gorm.
