Combi Boiler - hot water problem

Potterton 28i Combi boiler.

Got a problem with the hot water, the central heating works fine.

The taps must be on full for any hot water to come out. Sometimes hot water can be coming out and then suddenly it will just go cold.

Is this something I can fix myself, or will I need a plumber?

If i need a plumber how much should i be expecting to pay.

Thank you

had a similar problem with my baxi 105e combi, it was just the central heating thermocouple temperature sensor causing the hotwater problem. changed it, did not need to drain down the ch either, cost me £14 for part.

I think potterton and baxi are the same company.
