Blackbird nesting in behind Fascia
Wouldn't be a problem except it is right above the bedroom window and we are awoken each weekend by scuffling and scratching noises. Was thinking of calling the RSPB and seeing if they would be willing to deal with it (perhaps for a donation). If there is a nest i would know how to handle it or re-site it so not sure what…

Combi boiler problem - can anyone make any sense of it?
We have a Potterton Performa combi boiler. It's about 3 years old. We have been having problems with the hot water (or lack of it). It comes and goes and when it's not hot, its only warm. We've had an engineer around and have now had the temp sensor and heat exchanger changed. The Heat Exchanger was done Friday and on…

Electrical Contractor Advice (House Re-wire)
This may not be the best board to ask this, but I couldn't see any other appropriate one! I've had an electrician completely rewire my house (bungalow), except, it appears the two rooms (WC and rear bedroom) that are in the flat roof extension. It looks like he has just used the existing wiring (probably circa 1965, as per…

Guess what I've got a question about?! Yes.........WINDOWS!
Don't worry, I'm not asking about replacement upvc again. :D I'm now thinking about 'tarting' my existing wood windows to see if I can get a few more years out of them as I'm pretty unhappy about shelling out the kind of prices quoted for upvc replacements in my neck of the woods. (We want to move at some point in the…

Zanussi oven cooling fan?
We installed a built-in Zanussi fan oven a few months ago. When it is switched off after use, a cooling fan comes on as explained in the instruction manual. Problem is that this fan seems to run for at least 30 minutes, even if oven has only been used for 15 minutes. Does anyone know if this is normal? I'm worried about…

Can I mix kitchens?
Hi I wonder if anyone has done this or isn't it possible. I really like the solid oak classic doors from B+Q but the inside of their cupboards have a tacky little motif on that would drive me mad every time I opened anything. Also, they don't seem to have as many of the organising bits and pieces that Ikea and Wickes do.…
