Mortgages, lodgers and tax
Probably a very dumb question, but... Is tax payable for income from rent after mortgages payments? Ie, can I stuff my house full of lodgers, set their rent to cover the mortgage and bills and live the good life?

Assuming everything else being equal what would most people here choose - assuming there would only be 1 or 2 of you. A large 1 bed flat bought outright or a 2 or 3 bed property with a mortgage over, say, 10 years. I can see advantages in both options. Buying outright means that whatever happens to your income you never…

selling under value property to parents
Hi I have a buy-to-let property that I am thinking of selling to my parents at an undermarket price. The property would likely have an open market valuation of around £150K but lets say I privately sell them the property for £125K. Do my parents pay Stamp Duty Land Tax on the actual sale price of £125K (i.e. %0 as of July…
