Investment Companies that Buy Houses
We need to move quickly due to health issues, but we're not getting any viewings, so the prospect of a sale any time soon is unlikely. My husband found some web sites for companies that buy properties, and I'm wondering if it's worth giving one a go. The estate agent valued the place at £220,000 and one company has offered…

:j After seven weeks of pestering you all with my questions, we have finally put our first offer in this afternoon. Property is on the market for £137k and has been on since October. The guy seems keen to move, he is divorcing his wife and often said on viewings that he needs to move because he can't afford the mortgage on…

Could someone explain how a house purchase allowance works please?
Hi, I am in the process of buying a new build 2 bedroom flat. I managed to negotiate a 5% deduction on the property which is being classed as an 'allowance'. Could some explain how an allowance works please? Which one of the following is the way it works? 1. I pay the full price of the flat and then when the funds are…

Transfer of Equity
I hope I am in the right place. If the wife, wanted to remove her name from the Mortgage, who would have to pay for this. Would we "both" need solicitors or just one of us? I ask, as I rang the Solicitors to enquire about the fee, and they want £350+VAT, then £40 + VAT for the Land Registry. The wife, is receiving "or will…

Sell early 2008, buy back 2015?
From playthesystem.co.uk: "Many an expert has looked foolish incorrectly calling the top of the housing market, but UK house prices are currently 37% higher than the long-term trend, and it is PTS's view that at some point they WILL fall. Based on the long-term trend, a house currently on the market for £200,000 has a…

Let to buy or just buy?
We are wanting to move to a bigger house. We have nearly payed off our mortgage (10K, 1 year to go!). We could either just sell our house and buy another (and get another repayment mortgage), or let our house out (on a buy to let mortgage) and buy another house (with another repayment mortgage). Not sure what is the better…

Breach of comfort of home thingy
Its a technical term honest :D Would you class not having a kitchen for a month a breach of this right? I am in a council property and are supposed to be having a refit and new…

Please could someone give advice
My parents live overseas, they are buying a flat here with the very distant possibility of moving back in the distant future. They are on a very tight budget, and are buying a £99,000 flat with their savings that are still over here. To keep their costs down and as they won't be getting a mortgage , would a survey still be…

End of Chain
Hi all, Estate agents seem to emphasize when a property is an end of chain. Would you expect the price to be higher for an end of chain than if the same house was on the market in the middle of a chain? I often wondered about this. What is the general opinion on this board?

Problems with Freeholder (insurance)
I own the lease to my flat and the freeholder is the Management Company that owns and lets the flat beneath me (think Victorian conversion). I have just received the Buildings Insurance invoice for period May 06 to May 07 and it has doubled from the previous year although we've had no claims - definitely none from my flat…

Finding out who are managing agents
I have a problem with some tenants in a rented property(house), next to my business. I need to get in touch with letting agent (I know there is one, as the owner is working abroad). Is there a way of finding out who the LA is. I have tried talking to tenants, waste of my time.
