No front door!
We have just been to view a dormer bungalow that used to have a front door on the side of the house. The door has been bricked up to extend the bathroom (which looks lovely) but I have it in my head that a house MUST have two exits. It has outward opening windows downstairs that could be used as emergency exits, the same…

A guy at work today said that if you sell your main residence and do not buy another property in the UK or move abroad, then you are liable to capital gains tax, he said he had a friend who works at the tax office who tracks down people abroad who still have a tax liability in this country.

"The Right Price"
We are planning to sell our 3-bed terrace early next year, and I have been doing some thinking with regards to what the asking price should be. I have done my homework and I know that a realistic sale price for the property would be in the region of £180k. Another house in the same terrace row, in very similar internal…

Leaking shower in new build flat. what are my rights?
Hi, we've moved into this new build flat almost a year ago. We've just discovered a leak into our bedroom wall which must be coming from the adjacent shower and a probable leaking shower cubicle. The leak has caused mould to grow and has also damaged the carpets (which is soaking and mouldy). I know that the builder has…

Refurnishment Costs
There is a 2 bed house near me priced for £110K. It needs quite a lot of work, new kitchen, bathrooms, walls need to be replastered, new windows and has a 1/2 built extension which to be honest needs pulling down and rebuilding. The current owners apparently brought it last year to do up, but have since had personal…
