A Leicestershire Estate Agent You Should Avoid

If you're trying to sell your house in Leicestershire, here is an agent to avoid.

Gregory Chartered Surveyors & Estate Agents (Blaby, Leicester)

Reasons:

1. To get you to sign up to put your property in one of their auctions, they promise weekly adverts in the Leicester Mercury for the four weeks leading up to the auction date, and at least two placements before that. This is a lie, and we are currently three weeks before their auction with NO press placements.

2. They will change the auction date without warning, if it means they can auction more properties in one day by merging two auction dates, therefore saving money. They don't seem to care about how this messes up the vendors' arrangements.

Needless to say, after the latest newspaper failed to include any advert I've now dropped them (without paying any fees) and their sign board is now in my garage in several pieces.

If anyone knows a good (trustworthy) property auctioneer who has a good track record of sales in Leicestershire, please post here!

Tut tut, they don't make the sign boards as well these days as they used to.

The national auctioneers cover Leicester and would give you good exposure to the market. Allsops, possibly Savills? I am not sure why people use small auctioneers. As you say, they may need to amalgamate auctions, and the number of people in the room could be very, very low.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
