Natural / organic mattresses
Wondered if anyone knew where I could look for reasonably priced (as possible!) mattresses which are natural or organic (I'm after a single) or if anyone had any general advice about them. Thanks :)

How does solar generation in England compare with Scotland
England tends to get better summers than us up here in Scotland and I wonder if that is reflected in generation. Probably something you cannot compare someone will say as so many variables. I have generated since install 9 months ago 2834kwh.

Does anyone here have an ideological objection to Solar?
EDIT: This thread has been hijacked by discussions about the administration of the FiT and its efficiency in encouraging renewables. It's no longer all that helpful for a consumer trying to make a decision on whether renewable technologies are suitable for their home or business. I have started another thread:…

Do you have a radiator booster?
Please would you give your opinion on whether these radiator boosters work and the cheapest stockist. I've looked at the Which report and several Eco suppliers but can't decide if its worth the £25 outlay. There's a mark 3 system which reduces the vibration noise apparently but how noisy is it? Does it plug in or run by…

What to do with cardboard boxes?
I have a few medium sized (electronics packaging) cardboard boxes I've collected from online orders. Should I throw them into the recycling, or are there places I can give them away to be re-used? In other words, who would find them useful? (Reuse is better than recycling.)

Freeganism?
Bit extreme even for us, but does this happen over here, what happens to all the supermarket waste? Part money-saving opportunity, part political-statement, and part environmentalism, the modern freeganism movement — also known simply as dumpster diving — has spawned a culture of its own. A new short documentary film,…

Neighbours leaves
Hello, I know that I probably cant do anything about this. My old neighbour has gone into a home and a "friend" has inherited the house. For the past 20 years my neighbours tree has because of the prevailing wind dumped all its leaves in my garden - it is a big tree 60- 70 feet tall I don't have trees in my garden and they…

Any reports of Solar PV failure or required maintenance?
Many PV owners have had their systems for a year or more now, and I'm interested to know if there have been any failures or costly maintenance so far? We've had ours for 18 months and so far everything is fine. The only maintenance I've done was to hose off some bird muck once, but I doubt I needed to do that. The spectre…

Advice on heating our porch / insulation please
We have an unheated porch which is the only means into our house. It is approx 2mx2m and has a door on each wall. I'd like some advice on how to heat or insulate the porch in the most efficient manner for the benefit of the main house (not the porch). The north and south doors are exterior ones. The front door is brand new…

Conergy solar panels
I have had a quote for a 16 panel system, using Conergy panels each having a 245 output, inc inverter and optimiser total cost £10,800. . Our house is SE facing with no shading. I have a short cooling off period. I can't find much information about these panels and now wonder if I have made the best choice. Please advise.

I see that coop prices will be going down, so I have decided to do a few sums to see if I can save a bit without tying myself in. Which companies do you use for normal rates ie not economy 7

Energy Saving Survey
I'd like to get some independant advice on energy saving measures I could implement in my house. I already have a fair amount of loft insulation and the cavity walls were done a long time ago but I'm not sure if they were done to a decent standard. It's a chalet style house so I think I'm losing a fair amount of heat…

Generation meter failure
I had Solar Direct Savings do an installation in February. All working well until the fuse in the house tripped. A whole weekend of testing later and it seems to be the generation meter itself that is causing the fuse to trip. Solar Direct Savings have just gone into administration. I can get a replacement from the…

Recycling video tapes
Haven't seen many updates of this thread for a while. Got a few tapes to dispose of prerecorded and home tapes, had a google round and not many options to dipose of them. Some councils have schemes for this but ours doesn't. Don't want to send them to the landfill, what other options are there?

Reusable Nappy Discount Code
Earlier this year we took advantage of the discount code 'JUBILEE10' for some washable nappies from those lovely people at Hunnybums (google them). We've just bought some more reusable nappies & cheekily tried the code again. Guess what? It worked! Yay.

Any offers on roof insulation if I dont have a loft?
My house is a tiny cottage with various bits added on. There isnt a loft- I look straight to the (non insulated) inside of the roof. Are there any offers that would apply to me (in Wales)- everything I find is for free loft insulation. Thanks.
