Energy Saving Survey

I'd like to get some independant advice on energy saving measures I could implement in my house. I already have a fair amount of loft insulation and the cavity walls were done a long time ago but I'm not sure if they were done to a decent standard. It's a chalet style house so I think I'm losing a fair amount of heat through the roof structure but can't be sure. Ideally I would like someone to come to the property and give it a thorough once over to work out what can be done. I'm in Bristol. Does anyone know of any such firm?

Contact the Council; they might even have someone in their Building Regulation control department who might help.
I would suggest you steer clear of these individuals/companies that produce EPCs.0 -
Random thought.
Some of this work may require building control.
Perhaps worth getting a copy of your houses applications from them?
I wish there was a simple way to calculate this that lead the householder through the basics.
'Enter dimensions of floor' -> 'do you know the construction of the floor' -> 'here is how you might find out'
And then spat out a max/min figure.
For example if the householder wasn't able to give info on the floor construction, other than the top of it was wood, it might reasonably assume a suspended ventilated floor as the worst case.
In some cases, this is quite adequate to see where improvement is needed.
On some soils, with some geometries of building, heatloss through the floor can be fairly minor, and the walls will vastly dominate.0 -
