Internet/telephone shopping will always require packaging , though your example is clearly mad. I wonder if it's a bit of fun the packers have to make their day go quicker. But we could always just walk to the local high street shops and buy the products. Then at least we wouldn't see the waste packaging as it'll be nicely displayed on a well light shelf , in a heated environment with lots of windows and open doors0

I ordered two rubber kitchen mats from AM***N: they were the same size, the only difference was the pictures on them. They arrived separately, one in a reasonably sized box and the other in a huge box that I could have got into! I left packaging feedback, but did not get a photo.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Amazon are usually fine with packaging in my experience. I can only assume you happened to have your order dispatched on a day when they had run out of smaller boxes.0

& it's all easily reused or recycled/composted, unlike a load of plastic packageing."And suddenly I find myself listening to a man I've never known before,Telling me about the sea..."0 -

I too have had pretty good packaging from them recently. The card is mostly reused (I post things a lot, which helps with that). They also add scrunched up brown paper to the boxes sometimes to fill gaps, which I've found is pretty good for draining fried food on and then it goes in the compost.
So, buying from them doesn't contribute packaging to my landfill bin, but I do wonder if lightweight plastic packaging (including the mailing bags many ebay sellers use now) would use less resources than all this paper and card? The mailing bags are usually LDPE so can go in the bag recycling bins. Those air pillows are also always LDPE in my experieince so far. Both also have reuse potential. I try to open the mailing bags carefully and can reseal them with some tape.0 -
maybe they just want to surprise you or something.0
