Use by date..
So I have something in the fridge which has a use by date of today (31st), does that mean it has to be used before 31st or it can be used on the 31st? Was thinking of having it for dinner later tonight, but don't want to if it's gone off or anything.

'DIY' Downshift Challenge
What do you make for yourself rather than buying it ready made? I'm not talking about bread and cakes or good old fashioned home cooking, but more 'treaty' type things. I was a bit addicted to Nesquik chocolate drink. But I now prefer to mix 1 tsp of cocoa (not drinking chocolate!) with a tsp of sugar, mix to a paste with…

Chocolate Multipacks In Supermarkets
Hi guys. I have absolutely no shame in admitting my massive love for chocolate. Not the posh stuff, the bog-standard Cadbury, Galaxy, Mars etc stuff is what does it for me. Being a die-hard money saver when it comes to grocery shopping, I long ago stopped buying single bars and only generally now buy the multipacks when…

Price promise guarantee .. could it work against consumers?
First post! so apologies if this is not the right place. I am starting to wonder whether this 'price promise guarantee' Tesco and Sainsbury's have (among others) could be just a way to get more money out of already cash-strapped consumers. An example: Tesco Everyday Value mushy peas Last October : normal price 8p April…

Morrissons fruit going off after one day
Both my mother and myself have bought a variety of fruit from Morrisons this summer and on 4 separate occasions the fruit has gone mouldy after 1 or 2 days. Can anyone think of what the supermarket are doing to give their produce such a short shelf life ?

Aunt Bessies Home Chips.
I always buy these, they are the best frozen ones I think. However, the last bag I bought was not up to scratch, small 'ends of potatoes' chips, fine for kids but, I don't have any I buy them for myself and like a uniformed shaped chip, which is what I normally get from Aunt Bessies. I was so angry, I e mailed them with my…

What food/groceries are cheaper at Iceland?
About a month ago, I discovered that our local Iceland were selling 2 loaves of Kingsmill bread for £1.50 and that 2 litres of milk cost an impressive 85p. Realising this was way cheaper than Mr T or Mr S or Mr A, I decided to make a weekly trip by foot to get all the bread and milk we need. I spend £4.05 in there every…
