'DIY' Downshift Challenge

Options
What do you make for yourself rather than buying it ready made? I'm not talking about bread and cakes or good old fashioned home cooking, but more 'treaty' type things.

I was a bit addicted to Nesquik chocolate drink. But I now prefer to mix 1 tsp of cocoa (not drinking chocolate!) with a tsp of sugar, mix to a paste with a little semi-skimmed milk, then top up with milk.

It does taste different (better!), and as for the cost (after a quick look at mysupermarket):

Nesquik Chocolate £1.00/100g

Cocoa powder £1.19/100g
Sugar 8.7p/100g

As you would use two tsps of Nesquik my do it yourself version works out at 49.5p/100g. That's (1.19+8.7)/2.

Just checked the Tesco web site, Nesquik Chocolate is normally £1.95 for 300g, but currently 97p for 300g pack making it 32p per 100g.

Another reason to check the prices with the store you are buying from instead of relying on a site that is just trying to make money from telling you things other sites tell you for nothing.

PS. Which store were you paying £3 for a 300g pack?
