I usually use the quorn minced beef. The texture isn't great, but if you put it into a bolognese sauce it tastes great. I switched to using it when I got fed up of draining the fat out of the minced beef pan.

As a vegetarian Quorn forms a very large part of my diet. The 'chicken' burgers are very tasty, the pieces are excellent for making curries and Chinese stir fry. The fillets are very good. The slices from the chiller cabinet make good sandwiches. The various sausages too go well with chips!

Try everything - some things are better than others. I don't like the meatballs and the bacon strips, but you might.

Look too at the Linda McCartney range - lovely pies and pasties.

Edited to add - whatever you do, don't overcook Quorn - it doesn't take nearly as long as meat to cook.
  • You should try some Quinoa, it's incredibly easy to cook, and goes with everything, i use it instead of rice or pasta, and a little goes a long way, so i've found it's good value too.
  • I used to be veggie and found that Quorn was good for chicken substitute and soya was good for everything else. I now eat chicken and turkey but can't face red meat. I think soya is either fat free or like 1%. The best sausages I found was asda own brand.

for chillies and bologneses using supermarket branded and quorn mince, I make about a mug full of water with stock cube and a teaspoon of marmite, and mix this in with the frozen mince before cooking it. I find it adds to the flavour. The amount of water depends on how much mince you're cooking, you don't really want to over saturate it really.

I use quorn - mostly pieces in curries, stews and stirfry. It works best with some sauce or marinade that adds flavour. I also buy the roast and have some of it hot and sliced as a roast, some cold in sandwiches and then the rest chopped into small cubes in stews etc.

Have you looked on their website for recipes? http://www.quorn.co.uk/recipes/

I don't like the bacon and find many of the sliced meats too sweet. The Swedish Meat Balls are good and can be on their own, as kebabs or added to sauces/ stews.

    Enjoy!

I use loads of quorn, the fillets and mince can be quite bland so you need plenty of flavouring. Great for a curry or bolognaise though.

I use the fillets to make sandwich fillings. I mash them down and add mayo like you would with tuna and whatever else you would have it in. My lot like it mixed with sweetcorn or red onion. I also use it to make coronation quorn.

The fillets are only 99p in Mr Ms just now, I've stocked up.

Try marinating Quorn overnight before cooking. It picks up flavors well and can have a far juicier texture when marinated in tomato based sauces. It works really well with curries, tikka bakes and sweet and sours when marinated first overnight.

Better to eat your fruit and veg rather than synthetic foodstuffs. If you have health in mind, have you considered a vegan diet for a while? Try reading the book "Skinny B*tch" for inspiration.

  • Tesco's own veggie sausages are much nicer than Quorn's, they are in the green bags in the freezer
