Solar Panel Maintenance Countracts
I had solar panels installed in 2012 and this included a maintenanance contract for the life of the panels (25yrs) and replacement of the 2 inverters, every 10 years. However, the installation co., like many others, went broke a few years ago and I am looking for a company to provide anual maintainance and…

Saving electricity and cutting electric bill.
Just wanted to post something I've been doing in my house which has really helped me save electricity over the last few years and that is to go back to old fashioned filament light bulbs which give out most of their energy in heat I believe. You can still buy them. I only have electric heaters which I use with smart plugs…

Smart Meters and Separate Suppliers
I'll shortly be looking to switch suppliers. Like many two separate providers seems to offer better value for my usage. This brings me to my query. I'm not opposed to smart meters, but as I am likely to have two different providers, do both traditional meters get switched over at the same time, by one "lead" provider? Or…

Best Gas only suppliers
Currently with So energy for my gas. It's coming to end of my contract so i was hoping to consider alternatives. But i am searching for gas only so most of the suppliers i have found either seem to do dual fuel or electricity only, no option to select gas only. I've checked bulb and others. BG do do gas only but are not so…

BGas blocking me wanting to get a credit meter from PAYG
I was a struggling single parent over 25 years ago and got a PAYG electric meter put in. Now i`m much better off. I used to have oil heating but the council put eco heating in a couple of years ago(Air Source). It really isn`t cheaper than oil as they promised, it is costing me around £50 a week on my meter in Winter and…

Affect Energy Feedback
MSE Cheap Energy Club searches of energy suppliers says it has little feedback on Affect Energy. I bought Gas and Electricity from them for a year beginning early 2017. I had no trouble at all so didn't put their customer service to any test. Switching away was OK too. It appears to be a local company, so good for the area.

Issues with electricity bill/ complex meter!?
We've been having problems with our electricity bill, I will try and explain it the best way I can; We have 2 MPANS, the meter shows 4 rates. One of these rates is extremely high, we are being billed for every single one of the rates shown on the meter. There are 2 people living here and we live in a small 2 bed flat and…

Scot Powers performance dealing with YE's SoLR
Opened this thread as the original - "Yorkshire Energy?" - seems to have run it's course and we are now in the position of 70,000 YE customers burning energy on an unkown tariff with SP.To be fair, the SoLR was arranged pretty quickly and absorbing 70,000 new accounts will take some effort and time, but SP's track record…

PrePay Gas Recovery Rates
Thought I'd ask this as I want external information really not supplier specific. :) On a card type of prepay gas meter, the GD 'recovery percentage' rate is or was (from two suppliers I'm aware of at least) set at 90% , this might be the machine default. What I was looking for were 'supplier guidelines' (or rules perhaps)…

Purchasing Solar Panels- Yes or No?
My husband and I are considering taking advantage of an offer on solar panels that would enable us to save 36% off the normal cost of installation, through a group buying scheme organised by our Council. We have reviewed the scheme and sought advice on solar panels from independent experts, we feel this would be right for…

Nuances of late billing compensation
As I understand it, suppliers are now liable to pay compensation for the following reasons:- £30 if the final bill is not issued within 6 weeks- £30 if the credit balance is not refunded within 10 working days of the final bill- a further £30 if the credit balance, and the original "late credit" compensation is not paid…

Finally switched from Npower to Eon next and immediately switched out.
I have been with Npower for a good number of years and never had anything to complain about. I have a smart meter and the web page and app works well. I was informed that Npower would be taken over by Eon in December. My tariff was due to change the month before, so rather than confuse things I thought I would let it roll…

Top up key / card compatibility
Anyone know if you can use different suppliers key or card if there is no local shop with the relevant supplier? Seems stupid not to have a standard key or card.
