Finally switched from Npower to Eon next and immediately switched out.
I have been with Npower for a good number of years and never had anything to complain about. I have a smart meter and the web page and app works well.
I was informed that Npower would be taken over by Eon in December. My tariff was due to change the month before, so rather than confuse things I thought I would let it roll until after the switch. When the switch did take place it was not to Eon, but to Eon next.
The switch took place on the 4th of Dec so I decided to enquire about their tariffs. The "cheapest" tariff they offered me based on my use was no real difference to Npowers standard tariff! When I compared to another supplier I could see that the energy unit prices were comparable, but the standing charges were nearly three times the price. Eon next standing charge for Gas is 22.78p per day Compared to Eon's rate of 7.3p per day. This represents an additional cost of over £100 a year for dual fuel without burning a kilowatt.
So I asked the question: Why can't I have the Eon tariff? They replied that they are NOT the same company and don't share tariffs. What's that all about?
So be aware, If you were with Npower, You are now with Eon plus, NOT Eon and their tariffs are rubbish, so check your tariff when it ends or you could find yourself paying more for no good reason.

I think the e.on tariff with low standing charges is exclusively for new customers anyway, so if you'd been moved to them rather than e.on next then you still wouldn't have been able to have it.
As an aside all e.on customer will be moved to e.on next in the next 18 to 24 months which is why npower customers have been moved straight to e.on next.1 -

Low standing charge is important to me as my usage is very low. I work away from home for 3 months at a time, so during that time I have almost zero usage.0
