Solar Panel Maintenance Countracts
I had solar panels installed in 2012 and this included a maintenanance contract for the life of the panels (25yrs) and replacement of the 2 inverters, every 10 years. However, the installation co., like many others, went broke a few years ago and I am looking for a company to provide anual maintainance and replacement/repair of any parts of the system that may fail in the future.
What would I expect to pay of this type of maintenance deal?
What should I expect to be covered?

You didn't get any benefit out of what you've already paid so do your own saving instead.
The only thing that's liable to go wrong is the inverter so put £20 a month into a savings account and in a years time you'll have £240 and nearly £500 in two years towards a new one rather than giving it away to someone else who may or may not go bust.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers2 -
All insurance is a con. Just buy what is mandatory, vehicle and building.

Did the original company ever come and perform any ‘maintenance’?About all they could possibly do would be to clean the panels and even this isn’t worth the bother of getting up there to do it. UK rain does a pretty good job on mine.2

Not strictly, but mortgage companies/banks pretty much insist on it.greyteam1959 said:Buildings insurance mandatory ??

It may not be mandatory in a legal sense like car insurance is but it's probably the best value if something nasty happens, fire, flood or major accident.greyteam1959 said:

Most of the rest of it isn't, we have our insurance savings account which has enough cash to purchase or maintain most of our stuff.
£50 a month saves £600 a year which bought us a new tumble dryer last year and also covered replacement of an underground water pipe in July this year which depleted it by £1400 but we've still got over £4.5k left in the kitty.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -
Yes common sense to have buildings insurance but not mandatory !!

Thanks for all your help. I will abandon search for a maintenance contract and pay as and when someting fails.
