E.ON energy bill
Hi all, Hope someone can offer some advice as at this time I am unable to speak to anyone at E.ON. I moved into my new flat in September last year. Using E.ON they quoted me £47 per month this is just electricity usage. I work full time and am away from home every other weekend so really not much going on in the main. i…

E-on smart meters.
Just had text message to book a date to have smart meter fitted, (as agreed with my tariff?) Not aware I did agree but definately do not want one. Do I still have the right to say "no I do not want one " and they have to abide by that or will I be forced to comply?

I'm Thinking Of Moving To Eon
Hi, I currently have SMETS 2 smart meters installed by British Gas and all seems to work OK. I'm coming to the end of my contract with BG and have found a better tariff with Eon. Before I commit to moving to them, can anyone tell me if my smart meters will continue to work as smart meters with Eon? And what is the Eon app…

High bills - what happens if we find a fault
Hi all. I have a bit of a problem with bills in our rental property. We rent a house where we have had what I think are very high gas and electricity bills. In the winter we were £192 a month on gas (heating and hot water only) and £100 on electricity (everything else). I try to turn the heating down or off as much as…

Bereavement and Electric
My husband passed away last week and it’s been a nightmare sorting everything out. I have been in touch with the electric supplier and changed the account over into my name. They have however sent me a bill for the amount owing from the last bill. Anyone know if I have to pay this. He didn’t have any assets and I have to…

Shell energy say im in arrears (first post)
I had a call today from Shell energy saying that I am in arrears of £471 from Jan 2020 until now. This was based on an estimated reading. When I gave the actual readings for both my gas and electric today there was only a small amount of £15 credited to the arrears. What I have tried to do is query this as I do not believe…

My boiler has packed in and I have no idea what the best thing to do is
I have an old oil-fired boiler, which was meant to be an outdoor boiler, but was placed inside by the previous owner. I have had it repaired numerous times and the engineer is now saying that it can't be fixed because the expansion vessel can't be reached without stripping the whole thing down and building it back up…

Solar Panels
I moved into a new build in 2018 and started an application to British Gas to register my solar panels before the standard changed last year. Due to an issue with the dates on the MCS certificate and the company producing the certificate going bust I am still trying to register them so I'm not getting any money back from…

NPower Select refuse to offer two-rate tariff - because I am a NPower customer?!
I was told to call NPower Select by NPower themselves after resolving a recent transposed reading problem, as NPower said "they should be able offer you a better tariff as they are pretty much our complex team" Or so NPower staff member and I thought... Rang up NPower Select, gave my address and meter details etc, and…

Changing Tariffs
It's coming to the time when I need to search for tariffs again. Since I did this last time some companies are now making some tariffs available only with a smart meter which I've been unwilling to accept. Anyway my question is, as I live in an area that doesn't get a phone signal, if I pick a tariff that requires a smart…

Smart meter installation & design - seeking info
I'm in the position of having old, dumb meters in my house, neither are in a great position and I'd like to slightly move one or both eventually as part of some renovation works. The gas is by the front door and probably improved by just some better boxing in. The elec is in a box in the hallway that is way too big and…

Restricted tariff and meter transitioning to Smart meter - hit a brick wall
Long story short: I am currently on a tariff that is unique to London called Economy 9 with npower (not my choice), which is reliant on the current Radio Teleswitch service which is being phased out in the next year or so. I have been doing some calculations and research, and it appears that a half-hour settlement tariff…

Smartmeters going dumb
I'm currently with British Gas and want to switch to a better deal, however I'd like to know which other suppliers will be able to use my 1st generation smartmeter. The last time I switched to another supplier the meter went dumb, then when I switched again, back to BG the meter had to be recommissioned - causing a few…

Shell Recalculation 26 Months After Final Bill - Debt Collection
I used to have an account with First Utility until 26 February 2018 when I left the property I lived in and settled my final bill. Or so I thought. Around 4 weeks ago April 2020 I received a letter from a debt collection agency appointed by Shell Energy stating I owed £300. I didn’t know that Shell had taken over until I…

Electricity usage has TREBLED during lockdown
Hello! Has anyone else's electricity bill gone up dramatically since the lockdown? I have three teens and a younger child. Last year, we were using (according to our last bill) 6kWh per day average and this year, for the same period, it has gone up to 19kWh per day. I am horrified! The main reasons, I think, must be: using…

Yorkshire Energy Variable Tariffs
I use Yorkshire Energy for gas and electricity. Yorkshire Energy variable tariffs for gas & electricity are much higher on Cheap Energy Club than the ones I am paying (and which appear on this energy company's website). This makes comparisons false. Please advise.

Bulb to Avro
I’m on Bulb’s VariFair dual fuel tariff and a notification
from Energy Club advised that I can save around £159/pa (Quidco £114/pa) by
switching to Avro. Has anyone made this switch? I’ve adjusted my monthly debit
with Bulb a couple of times without any problems. Is that possible with Avro? Also, is there any requirement…
