E-on smart meters.
Options
Just had text message to book a date to have smart meter fitted, (as agreed with my tariff?)
Not aware I did agree but definately do not want one.
Do I still have the right to say "no I do not want one " and they have to abide by that or will I be forced to comply?

Hi,from CEC:You must get smart meters (one for gas, one for elec) installed with this tariff once lockdown is over. Don't worry, E.on will contact you and install them for free. If you don't, it can move you on to its more expensive standard tariff. If you already have smart meters or can't get them for technical reasons, you can still get this tariff.

Depends which EON tariff you signed up for. Later ones do have Smart meters as mandatory. Earlier ones , you just agreed to be contacted re installation.
Even if you signed up to a later offer, EON will not be allowed to enter your home to fit currently. And if you are "shielded" maybe not in the foreseeable future.

Check the T&C's for the tariff that you have signed up for - they are all different but if yours say that a smart meter is a mandatory requirement and you refuse to have one then you can be put onto their standard tariff as you will have defaulted on the T&C's that you agreed to - they may even back date the reversion to the day you started.
However if it just says that you agree to be contacted about smart meters then you don't have any obligation to have one - it's all the the exact wording of the conditions that you signed, so bear that in mind for the future.
Ensure that you download and retain copies of the version that was current when you took out the contract together with any other documents - they are continually being updated and revised so the dates might become important.
Having my own copy made a big difference to a deal I had with a previous supplier to revised the T&C's and who then tried to retrospectively impose them - they had deleted the original T&C's from their website to make it more difficult to prove.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

Hi,if you signed up online, did you not get your T&Cs by email?0

You must be able to get the T&C's, you might have to search for them on their website - not necessarily in your on-line account, but they have to provide you with a copy if you ask for them even if you did sign up on line - no one has sent me copies so I search for them and download a PDF file and save it. Perhaps you need to try a bit harder.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

Looking at the available tariffs they are offering now on their website, they all say must agree to a meter.
I have not answered their text (yet wanting me to book a date). Thought I would leave it a bit and see what happens.
