I'm Thinking Of Moving To Eon

Hi, I currently have SMETS 2 smart meters installed by British Gas and all seems to work OK.
I'm coming to the end of my contract with BG and have found a better tariff with Eon. Before I commit to moving to them, can anyone tell me if my smart meters will continue to work as smart meters with Eon? And what is the Eon app like? Does it show daily usage graphs like the BG app does?
Thanks.

Since they're Smets2 then they should continue to work as long as they've been registered correctly with the DCC.
The app is fairly basic and as far as I can tell only shows monthly usage. I don't have a smart meter however, so it could be different if you have one.1 -
Thanks for your reply. I assume they’re registered with the DCC correctly as all my meter readings, usage etc shows up on the website. And in the App I can see hourly/daily/weekly/monthly usage.I’d really like that to continue with whoever I move to.I’d be grateful if anyone could share their experience of the supplier they use. Thanks.0

Just because it's SMET2 it doesn't automatically follow that it's instantly transferable to another supplier. There s a fairly involved process in handing off one supplier to another to which both suppliers and the DCC have to subscribe and to which all the meters are compatible.
So in theory it should and it possibly will but don't count on it and it anticipate that could take some days, weeks or even months for it to happen so be prepared to take your own readings and send them in if it doesn'tNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Ah I see, thanks.
So much for "make sure you get a SMETS2 meter so that it's compatible with all suppliers" advice. I held off getting smart meters as I suspected they'd be more trouble than they're worth. I had until now actually started to think they were a good thing, but it seems that my initial thoughts on them are correct. Not much point in having them if they can't be used as intended. What a fiasco.1 -
I have found e-on's customer service to be seriously lacking before the current situation (and non-existent now) with the notable exception of Helena's and, formerly, Malc's presence on here. I also find their website utter pants compared to my former supplier which, unfortunately, was bought out by e-on, who seem to have learned nothing in the process.0
