I hope I've got the right thread but Eon is trying to get nearly £5000 out of me for 6 months of gas and I only live in a one bedroom council flat lol. I was on prepayment for gas as well as electric til July 2019 and now they are trying it on saying I've used over four thousand pounds worth of Gas in 6mths when I've only ever had small bills upto then. The gas meter was faulty and they have tried to say I've not been getting in touch to do the readings when I have and yet they think they can get away with it. Is there anything I can do as I don't owe this amount.

fallentoa said:I hope I've got the right thread but ...Best to start your own thread as it can get confusing trying to deal with two people's problems in one thread...I do have some questions for you having deciphered your table but I'll save them for your own thread...... and when you do repost please include the current gas meter reading as the last one in your post on 3rd April 20 is only an estimate...

Also try double spacing lines and setting out readings as a table.
Your post is very hard to read / follow.
As MWT suggested above, start your own thread.
Lots of good experienced peeps on this board will help.
When you take meter readings, take a photograph as well.
A photo includes data of when taken etc.
Good luck0 -

I guess the gas reading for 9th/10th July 2019 is the problem.
Previous actual reading was 34846 on 5th November 2018. Final actual reading was 44846 on 10th July 2019. Interestingly a difference of precisely 10,000. About 40 units or 450kWh a day. Very unlikely someone living in a one bedroom flat would use that much gas.

The problem is most likely related to a meter fault as during the time it was on prepayment mode the gas meter managed to go right through the entire winter of 2018/19 using virtually no gas...The OP will have noticed that they were not needing to top it up and should have reported it as faulty.I'd also guess that it may have started to be a problem before 5/11/18...The 'adjustment' that EON made before what looks like a meter change on 10/7/19 is probably excessive, but that depends when the gas meter problem actually started...0
