EON - Missinforming me
Hi, OK I'll try and keep this quick. We are with EON, upgraded to a smart meter 05/03/2019. Paid my bill till 19/02/2019. I asked the advisor if I could call before my next bill was due if I could pay the old tariff between 19 feb - 5th march so when my next bill came it was just what was on the smart meter. I was told yes…

Utilita - not sure?
So I had a rep from this company knock at my door last night wanting to read my meters. I said no as I have a smart meter and BG already know everything. He then barged in and wanted to look at the meter and explained his company can do exactly the same price but taking the standing charge away for the pre-payment meter im…

Night rate/Day rate.
Can someone settle an argument between my sister and myself. She moved into a house that once had storage radiators and still had the day/night meter. She had it taken out as she is convinced that the electric companies charge a higher day rate to make up for the money they loose on the cheaper night rate. Is she right?…

Moved house, prepayment meter has credit on it - will it disappear when I put account in my name?
Just moved in to a house which has a credit meter on it. The landlord indicated I'm welcome to use the credit. Looks like a smart meter pipit 500 was the model. There's £60 electric and £8 gas. What happends to this credit when the account is changed to my name? Thanks Dan

First EON bill £909! Usage question
Hi, wondered if anyone could help please? I have received my first gas and electricity bill today (moved into a new build 27/10/18). They took the reading via my smart meter and it comes to £909! This seems a lot higher than I used to pay for a similar size, less energy efficient property. I live in a 4 bed detached that…

Energy estimated readings
Hi, Wondering for any advice. I moved into a rented flat in 2017 and have had estimated Meter readings since I moved in. I have recently moved suppliers and now being older and wiser I wanted to submit meter readings. This has left with an "offset bill" with my old supplier of 564 pounds. I can't afford this and I don't…

Smart meter question
I have just switched supplier and have a smart meter from old supplier which I am sure is a 1st generation one. I have left the small display unit connected to mains just to see what happens. It still appears to be reading the meters. However am I correct in saying that this is only local and that the smart meter will not…

new empty house
Hi, Will be completing on a home purchase tomorrow. The house will be empty for a while due to renovations. What is the best thing to do in these circumstances? Stay with the current provider BG on a standard tariff or move to a low standing charge tariff? Also do you think it is best to get the account setup with the…

Switch from restricted meter to single rate?
I'm advising an elderly relative on Scottish Power ComfortPlus Control who I believe would be better off on a single rate but I thought I should check with the knowledgable people here before doing anything. She is in rented sheltered housing, over 80 with various health issues, both mental and physical. Probably the main…

Spark Energy - Billing Issues
In January 2018 we signed up with Spark Energy on a Smart Meter tariff, in which the salesman advised that it would only cost £70 per month and did not provide any information on the tariff. At this point I had no knowledge of how tariffs and finding the best deal worked, so £70 per month seemed to be a great deal for a…

smart meter shenanigans
I had been with British Gas for years on smart meters with no problems. When the latest price hike was announced (which was going to add around £300 PA) I decided enough was enough & switched to Scottish Power (annoyingly British Gas had a deal that was featured on Martin's program not long after switching that would have…

British Gas bills calculated wrong
Hi , I have a business account with British gas, send regular readings and get regular bills all paid by direct debit. Logged in on Monday to see 4K in charges, all previous bills credited for the last year and new ones created. Trying to get through to them is a nightmare in itself .. Looking at the bills it would seem…

Elderly and high energy
Hi. I hope I am posting in the right place.. ! I have just been to see my 82 year old granny who 2 days ago lost her husband. She was cold. She said she cannot afford to have the heating on and my heart broke. She has a very old 3 story home with storage heaters. She uses 3 of them but the rest are off. She has a tiny…

Npower again
So after being £13 in debit I look at my app on the phone where the clever people at Npower have me over £2200 in debit :D Phone them up to be told all my payments have disappeared since June 2017. So this is down to them, how long are they allowed to go back ? Wasn't there a 12 month limit that I read about somewhere ? 2…

Do any suppliers offer "pay as you use" direct debits?
I'm currently with Shell Energy (First Utility) and my fixed rate tariff is coming to an end so I'm looking around for another supplier. Shell Energy don't seem to be offering good deals any more. First Utility demanded that I had smart meters installed last year and unfortunately I think these are the type that won't be…
