Multi electric meters economy 7
Hi, Apologies in advance if I am just being dense but I thought this was the way place to ask a question before I contact edf. We moved into a property 3 weeks ago and it's the first time I've lived anywhere with storage heaters. When I read the meters when I move in, I contacted edf to give them the readings. I go to bed…

Apoligies if I have missed this somewhere but I am reeally struggling to work out what gas/elec prices were 5 years ago (2008). To explain our situation, we lived in the house in 2008 and were paying £35 pcm on gas and the same on elec all year long and it about matched usage. We moved out and rented it out for a while,…

Fixed contract expired: then Scottish Power want a Cancellation Charge
I had a capped deal with Scottish Power which expired at the end of May, 2013. I arranged a new deal with another supplier to start on 9th June. When I checked my final SP bill I discovered, tucked away in a lot of figures, a cancellation charge of £30.64. Their excuse: they heard about my change of supplier before the old…

I moved to my house just before Christmas and the old owner called n power with meter readings. She left me a copy but I didn't check them. Problems with EDF
Hello, I hope someone can give me a little advice... I have been using EDF at my previous address. Before we moved out we informed EDF about it, later we received the final bill and after we paid for it we received information that our account has been closed. It all seemed as it should but it was back in April.... Few…

Smart meter errors
I have a small business, (a pub), and after the smart meter was fitted in early 2011 it seems the bill has been incorrect. Day and night units have been billed the wrong way round, leaving me with a bill of well over £10000. British Gas have offered 10%off. Is this enough? Is this a reasonable way to treat a small business?

Comparison site promised lower tarrif but sse decided it's not sufficient!
Hello, I am new to this forum but I'm not sure what to do about my situation so have decided to post it up and get your feedback. Back in Jan, I changed electricity supplier from Eon to M&S (SSE). The reason I did this was because I came onto the MSE website and used one of the recommended comparison sites…

Hi, Our energy deal with BG is due to run out and we are looking at changing. In 2012 we had fitted a bank of solar panels for which BG pay us every 3 months. If we change supplier does the new supplier have to take on our energy production? Which supplier is best for the above.

Scottish Power DD doubled and they won't lower it
I could do with some advice here on the best steps to take next. Now I know what you're thinking from the title, that I'm massively behind on my account or that there have been estimated readings. It's none of these things. And it gets worse... I give monthly readings to Scottish Power and this has kept my account…

British Gas maintenance plans
If your boiler is not recent, the British Gas engineer who does your annual service will probably urge you to get a quote for a new one - even if your boiler has been trouble-free and works well. He should in fact be able to provide a quote himself, but I've established that he gets a bonus if you agree to another engineer…

Old Wives Tale or not? Flourescents - switching on costs more than leaving it on
OK my dad always used to leave the light on in the kitchen as he said that the energy used to switch it on took more than to leave it on for more than an hour. Is this true and are newer fittings more cost effective? Thanks

NPower wildly over-estimating summer gas usage
I knew this would happen! My gas meter broke sometime during last summer/autumn, and thus was stuck on the same reading. It's taken NPower a month to issue my bill as it had to be sent to a 'special department' to manually calculate it, with an estimation of how much gas I used. As a result, they're ballooning my DD from…
