Does this seem like a very large bill?

I moved house in the coldest months to a rural bungalow 4 beds however I have now found myself in fuel poverty and from researching average usage am querying my bill. I have been charged1843 for period dec till may surely this is extreme? I contacted n power who suggested this is normal please advise

Did you read the meter when you moved in and have you kept track of your usage, Does their estimate on the bill correspond with your current meter reading.

This winter has been very prolonged and cold and it's easy to ramp up big bills without realising.

So if you don't read your meter regularly and record your usage then you wont know whether its right or wrong.

Tell us your actual kWh usage and how the property is heated/hot watered. £££'s bills tell us nothing.
How much have you been paying per month, assuming DD? Which tariff?
