Elec & Gas annual costs feedback
Hi All Just having a play about on some of the comparison sites and unfortunately it seems no matter how careful you are with your usage there seems to be a realistic minimum level of annual cost for Gas & Elec within the home. For example I live a rather large 4 bed semi, mid 60s built with high levels of insulation and…

Gas pipe question
Not a supplier problem but something a bit different, i'm not really sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes. Is it possible for a gas pipe to be compressed and restrict the flow due to weight being placed on it and then for the pipe to return to normal and allow normal flow when the weight is removed?…

Dimplex Quantum - New Storage Heating
Just stumbled across a video about this on YouTube and was confused why they weren't in the Dimplex site (have been checking regularly because i'm interested in replacing heaters I have), but loaded up the site today and they are now being promoted. Haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I thought I would post because it…

Help! Boiler has died, don't know where to turn
Hi guys, I really need to pick your brains! My combi boiler has died a death, and as the parts are obsolete cn't be repaired. I've had 0800 repair out through our boiler cover from Scottish Power, and before they came I at least had heating, now I've no hot water or heating :( I have 2 small children, so need to try and…

N Power problems, seemingly impossible to resolve
I've just received a bill from NPower's collection department for £244. I set up a DD with NPower about 6 months ago, after having had to jump through hoops with them after they made a mess of my initial attempts to switch to DD. I'm going to call them to resolve this, however I am less than happy. Is there a direct…

CheapEnergyClub - Can't find EDF
I can't seem to find a relevant topic, but I'm on EDF Blue and I've done the comparison on CheapEnergyClub - but EDF doesn't appear in any of the search results. The most expensive result is Scottish Power at £49 extra month, but when doing my own calculations, EDF Blue 2014 still works out cheaper than SP's fix. Is EDF…

British Gas - are all suppliers the same.
I've got gas boiler and fire on gas. For 6 months I've been paying £14 pcm DD. Early Jan I was just in credit but latest bill, after 2 cold months, I'm £120 debit and DD is going up to £37. I phoned to pay the £120 and was told would only bring the DD down to £27. ''what'' I said !! Told that the next 12 months is based on…

Flow Energy - anyone switched?
Flow energy have some decent gas prices (fixed until 2014), claims to be the cheapest fixed energy deal in the UK and that seems to be true. They are second cheapest overall (fixed or variable) in Eastern area after Daligas but thought I'd give the later a miss due to not being registered with the Energy Ombudsman. Anyone…

Which company for electricity only?
I moved into a newly built flat and need to sign up with a provider. I was previously with EDF. In my last four months with them I used 1420 units of electricity. That might have been high as my last flat was bad for heating and I used some blow heaters quite a lot but my new flat is well insulated. My previous year annual…

Gas/Elec Average Usage Query
So I am guessing you guys see questions like the one below around 400 times a day but I'm not really sure of the best way of searching for the answer. So at the moment I am trying to work out whether my average consumption of electricity and gas is excessive. These figures are for a three bedroom mid terrace house with…

Central Heating Timer Thermostat - Recommendation Please?
I was looking to buy a 7 day digital programmer to allow much more control over timing and temp. I've seen some previous posts on here for the Honeywell CM907 or the wireless equivalent CM927 which date back to 2011. Are there are newer products which are recommended or should I look at these. Are they easy enough to…

Jumping in blind ?
Hi all, I've just moved into my first home alone. A small 1 bedroomed flat energy supply is all electric. With not having previous bills to compere I'm not sure who will be the cheapest supplier. Is there a company who have deals for low users or first time home owners/tenants. How do I go about finding a supplier who's…

ScottishPower: Outstanding Amount ?
I recently got a credit report after having problems trying to secure a loan despite having *to my acknowledgement* no outstanding debts or poor credit history.. so I was very surprised to find apparently I'm outstanding £792 to ScottishPower on an old address dating back at least 6yrs ago. Now I have had no news of this…

Looking for the forum members who have repaired/overhauled storage heaters
I know there are some here as I have seen them post about it. Just curious about what you did and how you went about it. I have to replace a charge limiter module in a dimplex heater (XLS12N), and it has made me think about checking over and overhauling the others. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Energy ombudsman - npower
npower have sent me a letter saying I can escalate my query to the energy ombudsman. I complained that I had not received a bill despite them telling me that one was due in January. Then they decided to change the billing system. I don't see what the ombudsman can do if they continue to refuse to issue a bill.

Eon boiler cover- appalling service- help?
Hello, I'm hoping someone will have some advice for me. We made the huge mistake of taking out Eon's boiler cover. We were first without heating on the 17th April and have had nothing but problems with the company. They eventually 'fixed' the problem last night but come this morning nothing is working again and the same…

Re-fitting remote thermostat
We have a central heating boiler that we had installed about four years ago. When it was fitted , as well as the controls on the front of the boiler, it had a remote thermostat that you could move into any room to set the temperature. We have always had a maintenance contract on the boiler and heating system. While we were…
