Uswitch and Cheap Energy Club Differing Results?
Hi All, This may have been brought up before so please redirect me if it has. I filled out my energy usage details on both Uswitch and CHC and they give me very different results. I have looked into them both but i can't work it out. Uswitch is saying switch to Npower as it saves £100 annually (roughly) and CHC is telling…

Cheap Energy Club
Why is there no option in EDF energy for the tariff "Price Reassurance Scheme" is there any way I can communicate this apart from posting in this forum so it could be added

I don't suppose many of you have the old gas back boilers, but if you do....
....does it have a built in thermostat? We have a 70s gas fire with a Baxi Bermuda back boiler. When we first used the heating, which was over 2 years ago, it suddenly cut out. I thought there was something wrong with it, but waited, and it kicked back in. The gas man set the orange knob at 3 and a half. We thought it…

economy 7
I read in a previous answer that it's cheaper to heat water using an immersion heater on cheap rate (night) electricity. My cheap rate electricity is 6p a kw but gas is only 3p a kw all day long. Using an immersion may be more efficient than a condensing boiler but not twice as much surely.

Switching Suppliers
First post. I am in the process of switching. The company guarantees a hassle free process but not a specific date. I noticed that if I am switched before a certain date I will pay an exit fee to my current supplier. There is nothing wrong with this but you cannot assume that your new supplier will take this into account…

Scottish Power Home Comfort Hell
I’ve had an absolutely shocking experience with Scottish Power’s “HomeComfort” boiler care this month. In short I have had the engineer they sent make my boiler worse than it was already, been lied to by their helpline, fobbed off, lied to again, and have so far been waiting over 5 days for someone to come and fix the…

reveived gas bill, but she doesn't even have a gas supply!
A friend of mine bought a converted flat in November and has recently started receiving threatening letters from British Gas claiming the property owes nearly £700 in gas usage. The weird thing is she doesn't have a gas supply! She's called them and explained this, but they have said that the meter was read in January and…

Unexplained Electricity usage increase
Hi All, Thanks in advance for any help / advice I get here, am having a bit of a worried morning! I'm on EDF energy for electricity (landlord pays for gas separately) and submitted a meter reading yesterday, to my shock, it appears we've used the same number of units in the last 2 months that we did in the previous 6! I…

Airtricity - cold calls and pure fairytales
yesterday I got a random call to my private mobile number from Airtricity. I was on gullible form from the very start: 'you are currently am customer of NIElectric....' ' em, no I am with Budget'... etc etc Ok, so not my sharpest day with the cold call. But what I am most outraged about is that they told me outright lies…

Installing energy monitor problem
Hi Folks, I am looking to install an energy monitor to record power usage before the windows, storage heaters, and hot water tank in my flat are upgraded (thanks to Green Deal), but I have hit a snag. I have chosen an Owl CM160 for the job as I have easily fitted one of these for my parents and it works well. The problem…

Should I freeze Gas prices now?
British Gas has offered to freeze prices of my gas usage until July 2014. Does this seem a good idea?

Very easy to obtain 3rd party information
This is what I did. I called British Gas and asked if they offer a reward for ex-customer who wants to come back. The customer rep took my name and address. That's all I gave. At this point, BG don't know if I really was their ex-customer or not. Anyway, the rep asked me which energy supplier I am currently with and I told…

Left without gas for 4 days with a 1&1/2 year old and a 4 month baby?
Hi, I don't know if I'm right or if it's just one of those urban myth type things, but aren't people with children under 5 meant to be a priority for energy companies? My niece has just moved house last Friday, her gas is with NPower. They said they were sending an engineer round on saturday to reconnect the gas as she'd…

Is NPower right?
I've tried to change my NPower account from Spreading Warmth to Energy Onl Aug 14 tariff, following the savings indicated by the Cheap Energy Club site. NPower tell me I'm better off not changing and have refused to change. Which is right?

Changing supplier of electricity with feed in tariff
Please can anyone help. We have pv panels and receive a feed in tariff from e-on as well as buyinig our electricity from them. However we have used the Cheap Energy Club Website and seen that npower would save us £15 a month which would be really appreciated. BUT how do we manage the transfer as we need to receive the feed…

changing electricity meter and switching supplier
I just bought a property and I discovered that the previous owner recently had a single rate meter installed. I see now it would probably cost a lot less to switch back to dual rate. I am also thinking about using Energyhelpline or similar to compare different suppliers. I am not bound by a contract with npower, my current…

Moved House High Bill Advice
I moved into a new property on the 14th of December, and within a couple of days I received a letter from Scottish Gas telling me they'll force entry into my property to fit a card meter. I called them that day from work and explained I had just purchased the house and moved in a couple of days ago, at the time they said…

VAT 5% or 20% hidden cost.
Energy prices are supposed to be taxed at 5% VAT. However, I have noticed that if you have to pay a termination fee for transferring to another supplier during a contract, this fee will be taxed at 20% VAT. What a nasty surprise!

Business vs Residential Supply
Hi! My contract is up on our business electricity and I'm looking to switch. We are currenbtly on a business tariff with British Gas. Last year we used 21,000 units but we filled out a VAT declaration there is a 60(Home):40(Business) split as the shop supply is shared with a family flat. So 8400kWh for business and…

How do I save money on electricity and gas
Hello. Me and my dad plan to start a small business in London. Planing to rent small room for your bakery. But first I wanted to know which tariff fits best for bakery business to save some money. I have looked through some websites of celerity provider companies and their prices differ so much, there are tones of tariffs…
