Installation of a prepayment meter (meters in communal area)
Hello moneysavers. I am having a bit of a pickle getting a prepayment facility fitted for my electricity. I live in a block of flats where the electric meters are located in a communal area (behind a glass doored cupboard). When I first moved in to this property, I was informed by my housing officer that many of the…

B. Gas keep sending bills but don't even supply the gas to the property
A friend of mine who's been with Npower for the last 4 years and before that with Eon, had a gas bill from B. Gas for £670 in October. I telephoned B Gas and pointed out they didn't supply any power to the flat in question and they agreed and I thought the problem was solved. However another bill arrived in early Nov this…

Warm Home discount - beware! not all suppliers participate
The Warm Home discount is a government scheme giving 130 off energy bills for those eligible (over80s getting guaranteed credit element of pension credit, etc) . HOWEVER not all suppliers are part of the scheme - one such being Ovo. It appears this is not flagged up by comparison sites, and so the results may be misleading…

Storage heaters, are they worth it?
Hi there. At the moment I use single rate electricity at 23p T1 and 11p T2 - non E7/E10 electricity using a mix of regular convection heaters and oil filled radiators around the house for warmth and a 200 litre thermal store running on thermostat for hot water - which I am delighted with. Last week I couldn't resist…

Thinking of installing a new boiler - please advice
Hi Folks I have an old Baxi solo powered boiler and arranged an installation for a new boiler - a vaillant 418 open vent boiler. I am not very good at these type of things, so was wondering what things I could check/look out for, to make sure the gas man does a good job of fitting in my new boiler? Thanks in advance for…

Switching confusion
I am with Npower on their GoFix8 tariff which ends on 2nd Feb 2013. Have spent ages trawling various site & as far as I can see the best one to switch to is the EDF Blue Price Promise. I want to switch through a price comparison site to get cashback - I think MoneySupermarket offers the highest at £15 per fuel. If I switch…

Hi there, My electricity is with E.on, and I'm on the "RHT Energyplan 21" tarriff. NPower abusing OAP's in the middle of winter!
Npower are the vilest, most disgusting company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with! They are refusing to pay the almost £200 my 73 year old mum was in credit by on her gas account when she switched suppliers in September. The meter readings were correct [meaning it's not due to estimation] and are consistent with…

Changing electricity supplier - cost of electricity
I quote from a recent article in the Telegraph (Business section): "Under OFGEM rules, customers have a 30 day period to decide to switch to rival suppliers after a price rise is announced......... IF A CUSTOMER ANNOUNCES THEIR INTENTION TO SWITCH SUPPLIER DURING THAT PERIOD, THEY SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED THE HIGHER RATE,…
