Automated Phone Call about Energy Supplies
Twice now I have received an automated phone call which goes roughly as follows "It has come to the Governments attention that people are not on the cheapest energy tariff their provider does and if you wish to save up to 80% please press 2 now" Of course I wouldn't dream of pressing 2 but can't help be curious as to who…

Gas Central Heating
I have just moved into a property with gas central heating, with some kind of thermal storage system (boilermate 2000). In my previous property there was no gas, and there was just an electric heater for the lounge, and with the doors shut that was sufficient. My washing machine heated water itself and so did the shower,…

Ridiculously expensive and unexplained NPower Bill
I currently live in a 2 bedroom apartment in Leeds, and when I moved in less than 3 months ago, I was told by npower that I would be using approximately £50 per month, which to me sounded slightly over the amount we would use, as we are both very economical. We also have friends living in a very similar flat, and their…

On 3rd December had a v. frustrating call with a nice young man at First Utility. We swapped from them in August but they have kept taking payments so they now owe us 330 odd quid. When I asked how this happened he said they had two computer systems that didn't talk to each other! When I asked for my money back I was told…

Daytime/nighttime ratio in Economy 7
How does the daytime/nighttime electricity consumption ratio compare between winter and summer in a typical Economy 7, no gas household? My guess is that in the winter people use more daytime electricity for lights and many other things because they spend less time out, but they also consume a lot more nighttime…
