Automated Phone Call about Energy Supplies

Twice now I have received an automated phone call which goes roughly as follows

"It has come to the Governments attention that people are not on the cheapest energy tariff their provider does and if you wish to save up to 80% please press 2 now"

Of course I wouldn't dream of pressing 2 but can't help be curious as to who it is that is making these calls?

    Some spammer.

Press 2 next time if you are that curious ;)

Who knows, you might be able to save 80%
... but I doubt it. Even MSE Martin suggests the best saving for an average user on a legacy suppliers standard tariff is only about 25%

Didn't this government say they would soon legislate to put every consumer on the cheapest tariff anyway?

All the more reason to press 2 next time, find out who they are, and then make a complaint about them.

You can't complain unless you know who called you ;)

Really? Just for pressing 2 whilst on a call originated by someone else?
Then you could complain to your telephone operator too, ... two, ...2 ... gedit? :rotfl:

A nonsensical urban myth. They phone you - so you are not making a chargeable call. (Irrespective of what button you press whilst on that call).
