Shipperless gas supply! Eek!
I moved into a new house in February. The landlord took the meter readings for both gas and electricity. He told me he would notify British gas for the gas meter readings and that I was with Scottish and Southern for the electric, payable by a prepayed meter key. The gas only fuels a heating +hot water boiler, which was…

British Gas offering £200 to retain my custom
I had a phone call from BG offering me £140 credit for gas and £60 to pay First Utility as I'd have to pay a cancellation fee. I had decided to switch to First Utility to fix gas and electricity until 2014. I'm struggling to work out if it would be better to stay or to go, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Energy comparison sites. Who do you believe?
I thinking of switching energy suppliers so I just entered our yearly energy consumption into USwitch and Money Supermarket. Despite entering exactly the same figures into both, USwitch calculated our annual energy cost at £1600 and Money Supermarket came up with £1450. They both cam up with the same list of cheaper…

I am hoping someone can help. We have just bought a house which has a wet electric central heating system. It is a trianco Aztec. There is no gas in this area of Buckinghamshire. Would anyone know someone who could service this thing and set the timings so we are only using off peak electric mostly during the day? Worried…

kwh or what?
Ok I am sure this has been covered here before, but I need to ask again. I am doing a comparison to find the cheapest deal and am confused about what unit to report for gas. I have a m3 meter. Last year I used 1750 kwh m3. When I enter my usage on the comparison website, should I enter this or the converted calorific…

A sorry saga of tariff-switching
My British Gas two-tier WebSaver12 tariff was nearing its end, so I checked out the website and found that BG no longer offer any two-tier tariffs. I called the call centre 3 times and received the same answer each time - at the end of Websaver12, I will be switched onto 'Clear and Simple', which is now BG's standard…

I moved to Scottish Power a few months back, I did the usual shopping around via the compare sites so had a good idea what the monthly charge would be and this was the same amount that was in my agreement with them. However 2 payments down the line they're taking £40 less, I queried this with them as I don't want to be…

Are "Age" tariffs illegal?
Having just had an email from E.On telling me about their latest tariffs, I see that one of them is only available to people over the age of 60. Does the Equality Act 2010 have an exemption to allow energy companies to do this? Or are such tariffs illegal?

Have E.ON raised their prices yet this year?
I can't recall whether E.ON have yet raised their prices this year. Anyone know? If so, do we think energy prices are likely to rise again over the next 12mths? I need to change plan today but not sure whether to get a fixed tariff or the current cheapest (to me) which will cost £40 a year less assuming no price increase.
