Any one about who's good with working out percentages please? :)
Hello
I currently have duel fuel from Scottish Power, and my tariff is Online Energy Saver 19 which gives me a 8.3% discount off standard prices until Oct 2013.
I phoned Scottish Power tonight to give them meter reads, and the guy taking the call said that if my new tariffs charges are higher than 8.3% which will come into effect early Dec, it would pay me to move to a better tariff.
Trouble is, I'm hopeless with figures and can't work it out
Here are the new charges that will take effect for me in December:

Are the increases higher than 8.3%?
Thanks
Tara

No good at the workings but suggest you move onto the online fixed April 2014 paying by DD.
It is the best SP tariff around at the moment.
Try putting in your yearly KWh into the comparison sites and they will do the maths for you.
Take care...The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
As usual the price increases are all about Smoke & Mirrors
ELEC
Your 1st 225 Kwh a Qtr have decreased by 1.5%
Remaining Kwh have increased by 15%
GAS
Your 1st 670 Kwh a Qtr have decreased by 2.7%
Remaining Kwh have increased by 12.6%
Unless you are a very, very low user, these changes are going to cost you serious money - Stop worrying about the fine details and punch your annual Elec/Gas Kwh into a Switch site to find out who will cost you the least0 -

Thanks for your respectful reply
I have been onto the SP site, and it recommends the Fixed Price Energy 2015 which works out at a 9.1% gas and elec increase compared with sticking where I am now.
(I have a real problem with figures, but I think that's correct)
p.s
The screenshot I posted was mailed to me from Scottish Power to tell me of the increases applicable to my account from Dec 2012.
If it helps, I pay £19 per month gas, and £22 per month elec now.
I don't know if it's better to pay an overall 9.1% increase from now on, than see what price hikes there will be from Oct 2013?All you need is love (and chocolate)0 -

Hello
Yes, I am a low user - £19 pm gas / £22 pm elec.
It's tricky trying to work out what's best to do, as I only have the details in the screenshot to work with (as the increases haven't come into effect yet)
If I try and use comparison sites, I only have the current / old prices to work with, so they don't really help meAll you need is love (and chocolate)0 -
Anyone wanting to switch to the April 2014 Fixed Tarif needs to do so NOW. It is being pulled at 9pm tonight and being replaced by one that's fixed until 2015 but which has cancellation charges.0
