Fuel charges query
Im paying £153 in gas and electric and have £400 in the "kitty". Was paying £180 but they lowered it. How much extra do people have in their accounts to cover heating over winter. It seems quite high to me but dont want to ask for it back and face a huge bill later on. I have a 3 bed semi and have the radiators ticking…

Left BG 2 months ago and still no final bill!!
I left BG on 7th Nov 2011 and switched to Scottish Power, which is all sorted and up and running. However BG still have not sent me a final bill and I know they owe me money....I had dual fuel, paid by DD and had an online account with them. I phoned BG on 5th January to ask why I had not received a final bill and when the…

Problem with new gas and electricity tariff
Hello, In November, I decided to do my annual gas/electric company switch to try to save a bit of money. I used the price comparison sites to find a cheaper duel fuel deal and set the switch in motion. I received correspondence from my previous suppliers, but nothing from the new supplier until this week, when I received…

How to time switching providers?
I do that every year, and every time end up paying the standard tariff to my older supplier for a while. This time I switched through a comparison site yesterday. My present contract expires on the 26th. I have just received an email from my future new supplier (NPower) asking me to activate the online billing and saying…

Quick Budget Question
Hey everyone! I'm thinking about moving into a 2 bed flat, and I'm working out my budget to make sure I can afford everything. It's powered entirely by electricity, has an immersion heater, electric cooker and hob and storage heaters. It's a top floor flat, so I'm hoping that the people underneath will keep me warm! Just…

Are halogen heaters economical?
Hello! I hope this is the right board to post on... I live in a rented flat and have gas & electric token meters. I know this method is a bit more expensive but it has always suited me just fine as it helps me budget and I live pretty cheaply anyway so have never felt like I'm paying over the odds. Recently I got a 1200W…

Historic gas and electric prices?
Does anyone know where I can get historic Tier 1 and Tier 2 standard variable (at least) unit prices from the main suppliers? I would like to look back over at least 5 years to see how consistently good/bad various suppliers are, by looking at spreads between suppliers at points in time and average prices over time, rather…

Would gas cookers become obsolete?
I've just been looking at this: http://www.goodenergy.co.uk/our-purpose and it shows that the government wants us to not use fossil fuels by 2035 and to use 100% renewable energy by 2050 When this happens, wouldn't all the gas cookers and gas boilers then become obsolete? - Forcing everyone to use electricity only?

Energy comparison sites
I am in the process of finding a new supplier, but i am finding i am getting varied results when i use different sites and just wondering why that is? Even when it is the same company identified as the cheapest, two sites will have two different price plans as the cheapest option. Are some comparison more…

stand alone storage heaters?
Is it possible to purchase stand alone or portable storage heaters that I can just plug in at the wall? I'm on economy 10 but can't make best use of it since I'm at work all day. The boiler for the water heats up over night which is great. However, for heating the home in general we have normal electric heaters not…

Bought our first house, how do we sort the electric out?
Might be a obvious question but I have no idea! we have exchanged contracts and are completing on the 16th.. Do i need to find a electric supplyer now ready for then? Or will it just carry on with the current supplyer? Im concerned about getting tied into a long term contract without having chance to properly shop around?

E-On and Utility Debt Services - who are very demanding!
Hello I am a Money Advice Officer, and have been asked by a friend to help negotiate repayment of an e-on bill for an acquaintance. She is now unemployed and split from the partner with the whom the bill was in joint names. Albeit it was last March when she left the property (very suddenly for personal reasons) and he was…

Gas Advice Needed
I had a larger than usual bill a year ago and could not afford to pay for it in full due to being on benefits. Npower agreed that I could pay the bill off at three pounds per week if I had a prepayment installed. I started off ok but I also received a larger than average electric bill and agreed the same with Npower. As I…

Best way to get comparison - electricity.
I am currently an EON customer. I moved in and they already used EON, so I just stayed with them. I am being charged 24.31p for the first 900kw in a year then 12.59 for all kw after (plus VAT). I have finally got around to looking at this and called them; they have offered me an online tariff of 23/10.99p respectively - on…
