Energy comparison sites

I am in the process of finding a new supplier, but i am finding i am getting varied results when i use different sites and just wondering why that is? Even when it is the same company identified as the cheapest, two sites will have two different price plans as the cheapest option. Are some comparison more accurate/reputable than others?
Also, some smaller, less known companies offering energy now, are there any i should not consider?
