stand alone storage heaters?

Is it possible to purchase stand alone or portable storage heaters that I can just plug in at the wall?

I'm on economy 10 but can't make best use of it since I'm at work all day. The boiler for the water heats up over night which is great. However, for heating the home in general we have normal electric heaters not storage. So although I can set them to come on over night, the heat is lost from the flat about 3 hours later. Because I rent rather than own the property, my options are restricted.

If I could buy a stand alone storage heater and then set a timer so it comes on during my off peak hours that would be useful but I 've hunted around on the net and can't seem to find one. Has anyone seen these for sale?

They are 144kg in weight. They are not exactly portable and they aren't something that you would want to have freestanding. They should be bolted firmly to the wall.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

They also need their own supply back to the fuse box, you cant just plug them into a wall socket that is probably why you have not seen any for sale.
  • Storage heaters are often not economical for people who aren't at home during the day.

As you don't have storage heaters it is quite likely it would be cheaper for you to change to an ordinary tariff.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
