E-On and Utility Debt Services - who are very demanding!
Hello
I am a Money Advice Officer, and have been asked by a friend to help negotiate repayment of an e-on bill for an acquaintance.
She is now unemployed and split from the partner with the whom the bill was in joint names.
Albeit it was last March when she left the property (very suddenly for personal reasons) and he was to finalise utilities etc,
She has now been contacted by UDS - the bill has doubled - she is unemployed and offered a reasonable amount but they want this tripled....or else was the tone.
I would like to discuss this with the E-ON rep to see how come the debt has doubled and see if the lower payment can be accepted, as bullying tactics could lead to nothing being paid, as just cant afford it.

Hi Gero,
I can't speak for UDS but I can try and help to ensure all is correct.
Just a couple of questions if that's ok.
So the bill in question, is this a final bill from the property they have now moved out of?
If so is the bill correct? has it been charged to accurate reads taken by the customer on the move out date?
Is the move out date correct?
The bill may have increased due to accurate readings being received since they moved out but it is very hard to say without having any details.
Have they called E.ON to ask?
A final bill would normally need to be paid as this is received, there are some circumstances when we would offer a longer period of time to spread the balance over, normally 4 months.
Have they been paying something off the balance up to now?
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to build up a bit of a picture.
Thanks
Helena
