Scottish Power - another increase in my direct debit
For about a year and a half I was paying £40.00 per month for both gas and electric. When I actually did get billed for the usage I usually had some credit left over. On 4th November 08 it was increased to £56.50. I've had another email today saying it's been increased again to £66.50. Has anyone else experienced this.…

Does this sound a lot to you?
We're on our first winter in a 3 bed mid terraced house that we're renting, and getting our power from Scottish Power. We have gas central heating, electric cook, and a tumble drier. We don't leave things on standby and I work 4 days a week (oh 5 days), so the heating is off most days. We've been in the house about 7…

Is this legal?
For the first months of the tenancy I am in, bills were not in anyones name, but we all paid a certain amount every month. Now I find bills arriving in everyone's name including mine and I did not consent to this as my personal privacy and safety is being compromised. Is it legal? If not, what do I do? I am happy to pay my…

British Gas - I Have Been Cheated
Last year I consulted various comparison sites and the best deal for us was British Gas Duel Fuel. I was already with BG for gas anyway, so switched. When the swingeing price increases came in last year I asked British Gas, what was my best option and also on here (MSE), it advised going for fixed price deals. So although…

mis-selling gas and electricity
I switched from Eon to a fixed rate tariff with Scottish Power for my gas & electricity in September, using guidance from Money Saving Exxpert & USwitch, and subsequently enjoying a free case of Vigin wine. Three months later, before my meter had been read, Scottish Power said my monthly payments would be increased from…

In credit with Eon.... and they still want money!
I've just rec'd my latest electricity bill which is £120 in credit. I rang to ask if my monthly payments could be reduced from £75 which they said they will reduce to £50. As my next bill is due in April surely it would be better to cancel my direct debit for this month and keep my £75 and restart it next month at £50?…

Please help - is my gas bill right??
Hi - I had heard that there are some people who have been billed from their gas company in feet, and yet their metres are in metric. I have just checked and I think I am in the same situation: my bill is measured in cubic feet (and the latest one says 422 units = 13299 kwh) and is a staggaring £430.44 for the quarter (we…

Don't Switch!!!!!!
Don't Switch. That seems to be the current red light on the utilities price indicator because of the recent BG price cuts. However I'm currently with southern electric and have just switched from a pre pay astronomicaly priced meter to a standard credit meter on their standard tariff (which is still high) , now according…
